Coaching is a process
for facilitating change.

Coaching is a rapidly growing field that encompasses many domains and specializations. Broadly put, coaching is a process for facilitating change. The type of change generally falls into one of two areas: a shift in either how you are being (beliefs and interpretations) or in what you are doing (actions and behaviors). The change is generally towards self-empowerment and/or self-actualization. It reflects on the present or focuses on the future. Coaching does not seek to reconcile the past. Though ... the past has an interesting way of showing up time and time again.

A coaching engagement is a partnership between a coach and a client. It is always client directed and always client focused. Coaches look for patterns in being and doing which may be preventing actualization. A good coach will ask the right question at the right time. It is a process of discovery that requires courage and active participation of the client to achieve maximum benefit. Coaching often creates a tipping point of awareness or action for the client. A coach can assist in uncovering who you are, what you believe, what you are doing, what you desire and what is getting in your way.
